On Tuesday, Braden Schneider had another highlight in his magical year to remember.

Schneider was presented with the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy as WHL Defenceman of the Year during the league-wide awards.

Schneider finished third in points for a defenceman with 27 points, including five goals. He also had 15 power play assists, which ranked second amongst all WHL skaters.

The Defenceman of the Year Award is only the latest accomplishment in the past 12 months for Schneider. He’s just coming off winning a gold medal with Team Canada at the World Championships in Riga, Latvia. Schneider also won silver with Team Canada at the World Juniors, was drafted in the first round and signed with the New York Rangers, captained his Brandon Wheat Kings to a WHL East Division title, and made his professional hockey debut with the Hartford Wolf Pack—the Rangers’ AHL affiliate.
