Missing persons case confirmed as homicide investigation

Just over nine months after a Prince Albert man’s sudden disappearance, the city’s police service is confirming there was foul play and that they are treating the case as a homicide.

Tristan Chaboyer, 24, was last seen Sept. 4, 2020 and his disappearance was reported to police six days later.

When interviewed by paNOW, Chaboyer’s mother said her son’s clothes were found in a wooded area behind Victoria Hospital, and there was blood on them.

“[Police] found his phone in Saskatoon,” Debbie Chaboyer said.

A DNA test confirmed the blood was in fact his. Debbie Chaboyer also indicated she last talked to her son on Sept. 4 and said nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

At the time of his disappearance Chaboyer was living in Prince Albert and worked at Star House Restaurant but failed to show up for one of his shifts.

Police continue to seek information about the events leading up to Chaboyer’s disappearance. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
