Melfort Car Show

MTACC planning for annual car show later in summer

May 25, 2021 | 5:00 PM

The Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce is still going ahead with plans for their annual car show this year.

However, the event won’t be held on the normal Father’s Day weekend this year. Executive director Cam Lee told northeastNOW they want to make sure they get the most out of the event.

“We figured, if we booked something later in the summer,” he said, “perhaps there would be a little bit more time to have some of those [COVID-19] restrictions lifted.”

Lee said the event is a great way to bring car enthusiasts to Melfort, “just to have a lot of like-minded people that are interested in cars and other vehicles to gather and to show off their babies,” Lee said, “and for the public to have a chance to walk around and just take a look and some really nice vehicles.”

The event will be going into its 31st year in 2021 and normally brings people to the city from a wide range across Saskatchewan and even out of province.

“A lot of people that probably wouldn’t normally be in Melfort at any given point in the year otherwise,” Lee said. “So, I think that’s another key thing, to have a show like this and to bring people in and show what Melfort has to offer.”

While a date has not been set officially, Lee said the MTACC has been working on having a car show this year for a while and hope that later in the summer will provide a good opportunity to do so.
