Laurette was born on October 17, 1929 at the Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert and was raised on the family farm in Ormeaux near Victoire, Saskatchewan. Laurette enjoyed her upbringing and farm life but did some moving around (Edmonton and Victoria) with her cousin Miller Dufour and the two found a lot of adventure and some trouble along the way. She eventually found her way back to her Parents home after they moved to Prince Albert where she met her future husband Herman. Laurette worked in Prince Albert at the Sanitorium, Victoria Hospital and then with Mental Health where she retired in 1985. Laurette and Herman moved to a small farm in the Holbein area in 1967 where they raised their three sons and kept a mixed farm for several years. In the spring of 1979 Laurette’s world was turned upside down when Herman took sick and ended up in the Herb Bassett Home in Prince Albert. After retiring Laurette took Herman home where she cared for him for approximately 10 years at which time Herman made the decision to return to the Herb Bassett Home. Laurette was dedicated to the care of Herman but also found time for family and friends and was very musical playing the piano at several events in Prince Albert. Due to failing health Laurette entered the Mont St. Joseph Care Home in Prince Albert on March 29, 2017. Laurette enjoyed her time at the home and the family is extremely grateful for the care and compassion given by Mont St. Joseph Care Home. Those wishing to place memorials may do so to the Mont St. Joseph Care Home in Prince Albert in lieu of sending flowers.
