Sister Thérèse Marin of the Sisters of the Presentation, passed away Friday, April 30th, 2021, at the age of 88 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Sk.
Sister Thérèse Marin was born on Friday, November 29, 1932 in Spiritwood, SK. After her secondary education, she entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in St. Hyacinthe, QC. Upon her return to the West in 1954, she held teaching positions in Green Lake and Duck Lake SK, and in Le Pas, MB. After a year of studies in 1957, her assignments led her once again to Green Lake, Makwa, APM Academy, Bellevue and Debden. From 1967 to 1970, she assumed the principalship, as well as classroom duties, at St. Paul School in Prince Albert. Always open to serving, the next years saw her teaching in Bellevue, Green Lake and Vawn. In 1978, Sister Thérèse completed a second degree at U of S. For the next fourteen years, she taught at Rivier Academy, specializing in the Sciences. She was an excellent teacher, was loved and greatly appreciated by her students.
It was with great joy that Sister Thérèse began another chapter of ministry with the First Nations community in Big River First Nation (Whitefish) in 1992 and at Guadalupe House in Saskatoon in 1994. In her later years, she was a great help to our Sisters at the Infirmary in Prince Albert even though her own health was failing. Sister Thérèse will be remembered for her enthusiasm, sense of humor, and her availability to giving a helping hand wherever it was needed. One could always feel the fire of God’s love and her devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She will be lovingly remembered for her compassion, her zeal and her joyful, sincere commitment in the service of God and God’s people. Sister’s energetic and generous spirit will be missed by all who were touched by her presence and enthusiasm for life. May she now rest in God’s loving arms.
