Sandy Bay man charged with murder of infant girl

A 25-year-old man from Sandy Bay has been transported to Manitoba, to answer to a very serious charge.

Robert Alexander Bear was arrested Tuesday at his residence and remanded into custody on a charge of second degree murder.

On Aug. 11, 2020, Flin Flon RCMP received a report of an infant in medical distress in the Town of Flin Flon. Officers attended along with EMS and located an unresponsive 10-month old female who was pronounced deceased.

In January 2021, RCMP received further information that indicated the injuries sustained by the 10-month old were not accidental and the matter was now deemed to be a homicide.

Flin Flon RCMP continue to investigate.

Sources close to the incident have told paNOW the accused is the young girl’s step-father, and said he was babysitting her at the time.
