It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of Amedeo “Mike” Flaminio on March 12, 2021, after a brief battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Wendy; his children, Dean (Marilyn) Flamminio, Anna (Daniel) Flaminio-Kim, Chella (Kevin) Flaminio-Krawec, and their children Cruz and Vincenza. Mike was their special Tatone; his sisters, Vita (late Nicola), Camilla (late Dominic), Maria (Antonio), Lidia (late Genarro); and his brother, Donny (late Lillian). He was very close with all of his brothers and sister.
Mike was predeceased by his brothers, Albert (Frances), John (Rita), Giacomo (Yolanda), Nick; and his sister, Olga (Guerrino).
Mike was born in 1946 to Fioravante and Anna Flamminio in Ortona, Italy. He came to Canada in 1954 with his family to Peterborough, Ontario. He learned at a very early age that to get what you want in life, you had to work hard for it. He started in the lath and carpenter trade, and followed the work from Toronto to the West Coast, and eventually to Prince Albert, working on the Victoria Hospital in the 1960’s. In 1975, he came back to Prince Albert establishing Flaminio Ceilings and Wall Systems, and did work all across Saskatchewan. He was joined by his nephew, Tony, who learned the trade and took over supervising the jobs as Mike began to ease into semi-retirement. Mike had a special love for cars, especially Cadillacs – which always had to be spotless. He really enjoyed fishing in La Ronge, relaxing at Candle Lake, and trips to Mexico in the winter. He loved talking to people, and wherever he went, he made new friends. One of his favorite past times was to meet with his good buddies, have a drink, share stories, and laughter. He loved life and he lived it to the fullest. He was hardworking and caring, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to very sincerely thank all the kind nurses at the Victoria Hospital. There will be a Private Family Service at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, March 19, 2021, with interment to follow at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
