Agnes Katherine Howland (nee Yungwirth)
July 7, 1931 – February 19, 2021
Agnes Katherine Howland late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021 at the age of 89.
Agnes is survived by her loving family: her four sons Wayne (Annette) of Berwick, Nova Scotia, Dale (Sharon) of Lloydminster, Bill (Lorie) of Calgary, Don (Cathy) of Prince Albert; her grandchildren Allison, Andrea (Alan) Murray, Jennifer (Matthew), Lesley, Haley, Alyssa (Richard), Kyle (Anna), Bryn (Heather), Ashley; her six great-grandchildren; Kadence Lawton-Howland, Maren and Josephine Murray; Karter and Ellie Howland; Sophie Howland, her sisters Rita (Jack) Short, Loyola (Joseph) Kmec, her sisters-in-law Rose Williams and Marlene Yungwirth and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by Cyril her husband of 65 years (2015); her parents Catherine and Dominic Yungwirth; her brother Arnold Yungwirth ; her mother-in-law and father-in-law Alice and Charles Howland; sisters and brothers-in-law; Obry, Douglas (Francis), Fred “Ted”, Ralph, Ronald “Rusty”, Jerold, Arnold “Mac” (Dorothy), Dennis Williams.
Agnes was born on the family farm in the Cudworth district. She moved with her family to Prince Albert in 1942. Agnes’s first job was at McDonalds Jewellery Store in Prince Albert. In 1967 Agnes started her career in health care working at North Park Centre and continued working there for 24 years. While working at North Park she started working part-time at Parkland Ambulance in Prince Albert. Agnes worked for Parkland for 25 years retiring at 72 years of age. In addition, she taught First Aid/CPR evenings and weekends and taught hundreds of children to be good babysitters.
Agnes loved spending time with Cyril at their cabin at Round Lake and did so for 31 years. They also loved to travel and spent many a trip on chartered bus tours throughout North America and on Ocean Cruises. They also enjoyed travelling to see their boys which were spread across Canada.
A special thank you goes out to the staff at Good Shepherd Villas in Prince Albert who took wonderful care of Agnes over the last few years. A celebration of Agnes’ life will be held at a later date, with interment in Prince Albert Memorial Gardens with her late husband Cyril.
