Officials from the Saskatchewan Health Authority identified a positive COVID-19 case in an individual at École St. Mary High School in Prince Albert on Monday. The case is not school acquired. Communication has been shared with the specific classrooms and cohorts as well as the school community. School officials said they will continue to operate for in-person classes while maintaining the safety protocols that are in place.

Meanwhile, the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division was also notified by public health officials about individuals testing positive for COVID-19 in three classrooms at Wesmor Public High School. The affected individuals include both students and staff who will be isolating and returning to in-person learning next week. Again, there is no evidence that the cases were acquired or transmitted at school and in-person learning will continue for the rest of the school.

In a media release from the Director of Education, Robert Bratvold said both the local Medical Health Officer and the provincial Chief Medical Health officer continue to indicate that because of the protocols in place, schools are safe and are not significant source of transmission.
