René is fondly remembered by his friends and the many community organizations he was a part of: The Shellbrook Elks, Kinsmen, Golf Club, Curling Club and Waskesiu Golf Club.
René loved to golf and curl and enjoy his Waskesiu time for close to 35 years. He enjoyed going for a boat ride and having a wiener roast or fish fry around the campfire or having a party of friends on the deck at the cabin. He and Betty retired from R&B Foods in 2003 to spend their winters in Hemet Ca. René could not just sit around so he started working part-time at the Waskesiu Golf Course where he was Marshall and Starter for 11 years. In 2014, René and Betty moved to Abbotsford BC.
A memorial service and interment will be held in Shellbrook at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in René’s name to the Town of Shellbrook – Recreation Centre or Golf Course.
