It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Yvette Marie Brown on January 10th, 2021, with her family by her side.
Shirley was born to Fernand and Laurette Bessette on August 7th, 1943, and was raised on a farm near St. Benedict, Saskatchewan along with her older brother Dennis. In her late teens she moved to Saskatoon to attend business college, then moved to Prince Albert to start her career. She married Allen Brown in 1965 and they had two children, Randy and Brigitte. Shirley worked several clerical jobs before settling into a long and fulfilling career as an Administrative Assistant at the Holy Family Hospital, until she took early retirement after the hospital shut down in 1997.
Shirley loved to sing and dance, especially to her favorite singer Elvis Presley. She loved skiing and doing anything outdoors. Shirley also loved to travel and got to experience many trips to the U.S., Europe, Bahamas, and Hawaii. Shirley had much to be proud of, but she took the greatest pride in that of her family. She was an amazing, attentive mother, a doting grandmother/great-grandmother, and there was nothing she would not have done for any of them. She had such a tender, loving nature that spread warmth and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Shirley will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Randy (Krista), and Brigitte (Billy) Ferguson; Grandchildren Renée, Ashley, Patrick, Mikayla, Kelsey, Shaelin, Sierra, Bailey and Bella; Great Grandchildren Lucas, Lily, Jesse, Nathan and Owen; her brother Dennis (Rosaline); and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was pre-deceased by her mom Laurette and father Fernand.
Due to covid restrictions, a celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a later date, tentatively in the spring or summer of this year. Details will follow once dates are confirmed.
In lieu of other tributes, donations are welcomed to be sent to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan.
