2020 a less-deadly year on the roads, say early numbers from SGI
According to early numbers from Saskatchewan Government Insurance, 87 people died in road collisions last year, making 2020 a less-deadly year than usual.
In the last six decades, the total from 2020 is the second-lowest total recorded in a single year, states a news release from SGI.
That number falls well below the previous 10-year average between 2010 and 2019, when there was an average of 131.5 road fatalities per year.
The lowest number of collision deaths ever recorded in Saskatchewan is 71 deaths recorded in 2019.
