Alleged home invader cleared of wrongdoing, due to issues with photo line-up

Due to a technicality, a man charged in connection to a violent home invasion in Prince Albert, in which the victim was tied up and threatened with a shotgun, was found not guilty.

The trial for Anthony Badger, 31, wrapped up Wednesday afternoon at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

Provincial Court Judge Felicia Daunt explained the initial photo line-up connecting Badger to the case was not conducted properly, and therefore could not be relied upon as evidence. The line-up represented a key piece of evidence for the Crown.

The case dates back to Oct. 3, 2019, when two people entered a residence in the 3000 block of Third Avenue E. The male complainant told police he answered the door after hearing repeated knocking. When he opened the door he was tied up and threatened inside the residence. The suspects stole his vehicle.
