It is with great sadness and sorrow to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, June Bodnarchuk (nee Plante), on Sunday, December 27, 2020.
Mom was born on Sunday, October 4, 1936, to Jim & Jessie Plante, in Glenmary, SK. Jessie passed away when Mom was 4 months old. Roderick & Dora McKay were kind enough to take her in and raise her as their own. Mom grew up in bush camps around the Kinistino area. Although Mom only had a grade 3 education, she was one smart cookie. She started working at the age of 14 in a café in Mont Nebo. That is where she met and chased Dad. They married on November 2, 1956. Together they raised four children. Mom was hard working as they lived on a farm. She always put in huge gardens and helped Dad in the fields. When Dad’s health started to fail, they moved to the city in June 1985. Mom tried working at Smitty’s for a month, but Dad put his foot down, so she quit. That was about the only time she did not dare argue with him. Mom was a devoted wife to Dad until he passed away in 2002.
June is survived by her loving family, her children, Gail, Glenda (Kerry), Brian, Debbie (Paul); her grandchildren, Drew, Colbi (Skylar), Troy (Lindsay), Graham, Candace (Aaron); her great-grandchildren, Ava, Gavin, Braylee, Briar, Bentley, Ryker, Olivia; her brothers, Raymond, and Delmar, her sisters-in-law, Kay, Eva and Chris. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; her parents, Jim & Jessie Plante, Roderick & Dora McKay; her brothers, Bill, Wilfred; her sister, Florence. Go be with Dad now Mom, he’s been waiting for you.
