MELFORT, Sask. – Protein Industries Canada and its partners are committing $25.7 million to yellow pea processing.
Ingredion Inc., Ingredion Plant Based Protein Specialties (IPBPS) of Vanscoy, Sask., O.M.D. Food Products, Verdient Foods, and T Base 4 Investments have formed a consortium with the goal of commercializing new technology.
IPBPS senior advisor Blair Knippel said Protein Industries Canada’s contributions will lead to improvements to the manufacturing capabilities in Vanscoy.
“The project solidifies Verdient Foods’ original vision, which is to position as a key contributor to the plant-based protein movement and leader in sustainable food ingredient production,” Knippel said in a news release.
