Buckland firefighter chosen for cover of All-Stars calendar

If you’re planning to pick up a 2021 Saskatchewan Firefighters Calendar, expect to see a local face (and torso) on the cover.

Buckland Volunteer Fire Department member Forest Bihun was selected to appear in the All-Stars calendar through an online vote. But he told paNOW he didn’t learn he’d been chosen for the cover until he received a copy in the mail.

“I opened up the box and I kind of had to do a double check to see if it was actually me,” he said. “It was pretty cool.”

All proceeds from the sale of the calendar will go to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Bihun, who’s also a fourth-year nursing student, said supporting a good cause was one of the reasons he decided to try out for the calendar.

“Also going into healthcare, it’s something that’s close to my heart,” he added.

For their most recent edition, the Saskatchewan Fire Fighters Calendar decided to draw from past models to avoid hosting their annual selection event in Regina and staging new photo shoots during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bihun also graces the month of October in the 2020 calendar.

He said the 2021 calendar will likely be his last.

“It was good, but it’s a lot of work and a lot of hard dieting and exercise to get in shape for those photo shoots,” he explained. “So it’s not something I think I want to do again anytime soon.”
