Norma Betsy Mercredi (Bradfield)
July 4, 1946 ~ September 6, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Norma Mercredi announce her sudden passing on Sunday, September 6, 2020 in Prince Albert, SK. At the age of 74. Norma was born July 4th, 1946, at Molanosa, Saskatchewan to Catherine Elizabeth Ross and Redmond Bradfield. Life was busy and active with all of her siblings Ben, James, George, Johnny, Allen, Mary, Annie, and Irene. Norma married Dave Beeching in 1963 at Molanosa, SK and in 1977, Robert James Mercredi in Uranium City, Saskatchewan. Noma went to NORTEP and graduated in 1992, and at the University of Saskatchewan, Adult 12 in 1978 she also had attained her Vice Principle Course. She worked as a teacher for 16 years (1992-2008; LLIB, OLCN, PAGC), Indian Social Services, Secretary, Self-employed self contractor and as a Residential Custodian (Central Housing Development, Syncrude, Fort McMurray) continued to substitute for a period of time. Most important thing to Norma was her grandchildren, family, and she loved pets/animals. Much of her time was spent cooking, berry picking, gardening being outdoors and waiting for the seasons to begin to decorate for Christmas’ and all the other holidays. When someone came to visit they were always made welcome. Norma had a very caring heart and always helped others out, always giving and willing to support others without asking anything in return. This always showed in her work and home. Norma carried a strong religious presence; she was raised and a practicing Anglican Christian. She would read the Bible when she would need it. Norma’s memory will be forever cherished by her son: Lonnie(Michelle) Mercredi from Lloydminster, AB, her ex-spouse’s still friends to this day – Robert Mercredi from Regina, SK, and Dave Beseching from Fort McMurray, AB, grandchildren: Alexander, Erik, Owen Mercredi from Lloydminster, AB, special Nephew: Allen (Bella) Bradfield from Prince Albert, SK, special Niece: Virginia (Ben) Campbell from Prince Albert, SK, brother: Ben Bradfield from Molanosa, SK, in-laws: Matt Bojanowski, Ken (Cheryl) Mercredi, Theresa Tuccaro and Margaret Vouageur, her pet chihuahua “Baby”, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Norma was predeceased by: son: Lyle Beeching (July 9, 2012), her parents: Redmond and Catherine (nee Ross) Bradfield, brothers: James, George, Johnny & Allen Bradfield, sisters: Mary Johnson, Annie Halkett, Virginia Bird & Irene Bojanowski and her pets: Charlie, Booboo, Jake.Wake Service will commence on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. held at the Allen Senator Bird Gymnasium, 2300 9th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Alban’s Anglican Cathedral- 1401 Bishop McLean Crescent, Prince Albert, SK Due to COVID there will only be sixty people accepted in the church which will be saved for immediate family. Interment will be held at Molanosa Cemetery, Molanosa, SK with everyone invited to share in the final resting celebration of Norma (150 people max; due to COVID-19 please practice social distancing and mask wearing as best possible). Donations in Norma’s memory can be made to any local SPCA or animal shelter. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
