24-year-old man suddenly dies while in RCMP custody in Ahtahkakoop

The RCMP announced that on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m., a 24-year-old man died while being held in custody at the Ahtahkakoop RCMP Detachment.

Officers discovered the man was unresponsive around 8 a.m. and attempted to revive him by using an automated external defibrillator (AED). Emergency medical services (EMS) also attended, before pronouncing the man was deceased on scene.

The man was taken into custody at 4:30 a.m., β€œin relation to an ongoing investigation,” the release said.

Saskatchewan RCMP requested the Moose Jaw Police service to conduct the investigation. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.
