Ledoux murder case moves closer to resolution

A trial date has now been set for the third and final person charged in connection to the death of Duane Brett Ledoux in Aug, 2017.

Marrissa Bird is facing a charge of first-degree murder and will be tried by judge alone at the trial in early February.

The dates of Feb. 1 to Feb. 12, 2021 were agreed upon at a pre-trial hearing on Friday.

On August 16, 2017, the remains of 25-year-old Duane Brett Ledoux were found at a residence in the 800 block of 17th St. W. The attack was gang-related according to evidence heard in court already.

The two co-accused, Borden Umpherville and William Chaboyer, were sentenced last April for their respective roles in the incident and each received three year prison terms.

Both men pleaded guilty to charges of assault, and participation in a criminal organization. Chaboyer also pleaded guilty to pointing a firearm at the victim.
