Saskatchewan COVID-19 total at 970

There are eight new cases of COVID-19 in the province as of Tuesday, bringing Saskatchewan’s total to 970.

There are two new cases in the Far North, two in the central region, one in Saskatoon and three in the South region.

Of the total cases 142 are considered active. A total of 813 have recovered.

There are 12 patients in hospital: nine are receiving inpatient care, with seven in Saskatoon, one in the South and one in the North. There are three people in intensive care with two in Saskatoon and one in the South.

From the 970 cases, 187 are travellers, 528 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 168 have no known exposures and 87 are under investigation by public health.

In Saskatchewan 58 cases are health care workers (although not all sourced their infections from work), 342 are from the Far North, 212 are from the Saskatoon area, 124 are from the North, 123 are from the South, 87 are from the Regina area and 82 are from the Central region.

There are 133 cases involving people aged 19 or under.

There are 333 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 304 in the 40 to 59 age range, 168 in the 60 to 79 age range, and 32 in the 80 plus age range.

Fifty-one per cent of cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

Fifteen deaths related to the virus have been reported to date.

Until today, 83,676 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. Testing is available to anyone who requests it, regardless of whether they have symptoms or not.

Awareness

The province is noting an increase in cases since mid-June, particularly in the southwest and west-central areas of Saskatchewan. The province notes there are cases on colonies and in the broader community.

Public health is working to determine transmission chains and to identify contacts. The risk of contracting COVID-19 remains in every part of the province.
