SHIRLEY ALLENBY
November 1, 1945 ~ July 6, 2020
Shirley Veronica (nee Deschambeault) Allenby, age 74, beloved wife of Cornelius Allenby, passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert on Monday, July 6, 2020. She was born in Kinistino on November 1, 1945 to Helen & Alexander Deschambeault, the second youngest in large family.
Shirley lived in Kinistino until 1963. She was introduced, by her brother-in-law, Leo, to the love of her life, Cornelius Allenby in 1962. After a three-year courtship, they married on September 11, 1965. They settled first in Melville, then in Saskatoon, Meath Park where they raised their four children, then to Prince Albert and later in Paddockwood. Shirley loved the outdoors and loved her garden and when it came to flowers she truly had a green thumb. Summers for the Allenby family were never complete without numerous camping trips, while winters were always busy with hockey games, snowmobiling, and school sports and activities.
There was nothing more important to Shirley than her family and she loved her four children, 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren with all her heart. She will be lovingly remembered for her sense of humour and her loving nature.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Corney; children Jeanne (Jean-Pierre) Proulx, Harold (April) Allenby, Trevor Allenby, and Leroy (Rebecca) Allenby; grandchildren Jennifer (Kyle) Rudnicki, Skyler (Adam) Magee, Collen (Lindsay) Allenby, Cassandra Davies, Cody Tienkamp, Cheyenne Jodouin, Taylor (Nevin) Allenby, Katelyn Allenby, Phoenix Allenby, Eric Jensen, and Danica Allenby; great-grandchildren Arabella Penner, Blair Rudnicki, Taliya Felix-Allenby, Jack Rudnicki, and Leveah Felix-Allenby; sister Gordinia Paquette, brother Leon Deschambeault; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Edith) Allenby, Allan (Diane) Allenby, and Barb (Bill) Caird; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Helen Deschambeault; siblings Clara (Herman) Haugen, Eleanor (Wilfred) Jensen, Francine (Richard) Larson, Margaret (Nick) Parafranko, Linda (Bill) Burnett, Marie (Clay) Canning, Eileen (Leo) Paquette, and Doug Deschambeault; her mother and father-in-law, Susan and Harold Allenby; brother and siter-in-law Don and Mary Allenby; and brother-in-law, Robert Paquette.
