Roger Schmid

Roger Ruben Schmid, affectionately known as “Pudgy” by his family, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Victoria Hospital, in Prince Albert, SK, at the age of 90 years. Roger is survived by his three children, Debbie (Bryan), Sue (Gordon), and Ruben (Deborah); his six grandchildren, Cory (Chelsey), Richard (Amy), Meagan, Alyson, Aden, and Rorie; his three great-grandchildren, Lila, Zara, and Marek; and his youngest brother, Garth. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Mary in 2016. Roger was active in the Deaf Community, and a self-taught “Jack of all Trades.” He retired from Intercontinental Packers after 33 years of employment. He will be fondly remembered for his humour, and his love of Volkswagens. In January 2018, he moved to Prince Albert and was welcomed into the Mak Lodge Care Home family. A special thank you to the staff at Mak Lodge for creating a loving home environment for Roger, and thank you to the medical staff at the Victoria Hospital for your kindness and care of Roger during his stay. He will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Roger’s memory to the Saskatchewan Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, #3 – 511 1st Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1X5.
