Eight new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan

There are eight new cases of COVID-19 in the province, bringing the total to 716.

Seven of those cases are in the province’s Far North region and one is in the Saskatoon region.

Of the reported cases, 67 remain active. A total of 636 have recovered.

Three people are receiving inpatient care, with two in the South region and one in Saskatoon. There is one person in intensive care in Saskatoon.

Of all 716 cases, 150 are travellers, 422 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 89 have no known exposures and 55 are under investigation by local public health.

In Saskatchewan 53 cases are health care workers (although not all may have sourced their infections at work), 292 are from the Far North, 185 are from the Saskatoon area, 112 are from the North, 80 are from the Regina area, 33 are from the South and 12 are from the central region.

There are 106 cases involving people aged 19 and younger. The remainder are adults.

There are 247 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 222 in the 40 to 59 age range, 120 in the 60 to 79 age range, and 21 in the 80-plus age range.

Fifty-two per cent of cases are females and 48 per cent are males.

Thirteen deaths related to the virus have been reported to date.

To date, 58,611 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. Testing is also available to those returning to work, those admitted to acute care (including expectant mothers), those who are immunocompromised and their caregivers.
