Irene Olga Parchomuk (nee Karpish) of Prince Albert passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at the age of 85 years. Olga was born Friday, February 1, 1935, in Honeymoon, SK, on the Karpish family homestead. Olga married Nick on November 12, 1955, in Honeymoon, SK, and they settled near Paddockwood, SK. Olga worked hard with Nick on the farm where they lived for 16 years before moving into Prince Albert in 1971. Once in Prince Albert, Olga worked various jobs including catering at banquets, at both the Marlborough Hotel and the Elk’s Hall. She also worked at the Eaton’s cafeteria. Olga was quite passionate when it came to growing her garden and flowers each summer. She always shared her bountiful harvest of vegetables. During the winter she kept busy knitting siwashes, and crocheting afghans. Olga was an avid bowler. She loved to socialize. Olga loved playing cards whether it was canasta, Pay Me, or kaiser with a group of family and friends or just solitaire by herself! She frequently enjoyed having coffee with her neighbours. Olga loved making her own perogies and cabbage rolls and was a regular participant at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church “Perogy Bees.” Auntie Olga shared a special bond with her nieces and great nieces with whom she enjoyed playing many games of Uno, Skip-Bo, and 3 up 3 down – she was in it to win it!
Olga will be lovingly remembered by her siblings, Mary Zbaraschuk, Iris Wasylenko, Lucy (Sam) Hiadachuk; and her sisters-in-law, Sophie Karpish, Olga Karpish; her husband’s family, Vi (Joe) Konias, Mary (John) Panchuk; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
