APAS makes recommendations for livestock support
The Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS) has created a list of policy recommendations to help livestock producers through COVID-19.
APAS President Todd Lewis said producers are unsure how long they will hold onto stock, and whether government support will be available in the event of further price declines and rising feed costs.
“Days and weeks is the timeline for producers to make some hard decisions around culling animals and altering their production cycles,” Lewis told farmnewsNOW.
The recommendations deal with improved access to credit, setting up an emergency relief program and more financial assistance for primary farming operations.
