Ronald “Pat” Nieman
It is with both sadness and love that we announce the passing of Ronald (Pat) Nieman, age 77. He died peacefully on February 28, 2020 at the Victoria Union Hospital in Prince Albert, SK.
Pat was born to John and Margaret Nieman in 1942 and raised on the family farm near Englefeld, SK, where he completed elementary and high school. He continued his education at the University of Saskatchewan where he received his degree in Civil Engineering. During his career, Pat worked for SaskPower, Saskatchewan Grid Roads Authority and as Assistant City Engineer with the City of Prince Albert. After retiring with the City, Pat pursued his interests in cross-country skiing, golfing, and tinkering with technology, especially his passion for videotaping virtually every family activity. Pat enjoyed his time with family, friends and especially his grandchildren. Everyone who knew Pat knew that he loved his family. He also loved to laugh, to dance, and to make people feel like they belonged. Although this is not the last dance Pat would have chosen, he danced it well, and danced as long as he could.
Pat will always be remembered by his loving wife of 54 years, Annette; his daughters, Michelle, (Walter Hader) and their children Nathalie, Jonathan and Nathan; Lisa, (Ken Hodson) and their children Sam, Sarah and Matthew; Charlene Nieman (Robert Millard); sisters Faith, (Bob Ceasar) and Mary Ellen Buckwold; brother, Jack (Rick Reder); sister-in-law, Glenda Nieman and many beloved Jeanneau in-laws, nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
He was predeceased by his father John, mother Margaret, his brother Dick, in-laws Ian Buckwold, Madeleine and Clem Marchildon, Pius Steckler, Thérèse Jeanneau and Pauline Jeanneau.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1404 4th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to Saskatchewan Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, PO Box 102, 103 Hospital Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W8.
