June Sanderson (nee Morgan) was born on Wednesday, January 17, 1940, in Kindersley SK, and passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, in Prince Albert, SK. She was part of a family of musicians. “The Mello Tones” were a woodwind orchestra who played at all the local parties. June took her place as a pianist. She became involved in the Order of Eastern Star while still in Kindersley. She trained to become a nurse at Calgary General Hospital before marrying Allan Sanderson, who played hockey for the Kindersley Klippers. They started a family before relocating to Prince Albert in 1968. June grew a green thumb in the early years, working at MacPhedran’s Greenhouse. She took great pride in flower gardening. Many close friendships were kindled through sports and other affiliations. June loved people, was very gracious, humble, and had a great sense of humor. Later, she worked for Eaton’s in fabrics and drapery. Eventually, June returned to nursing and worked Long Term Care at the Lion’s Vic Nursing Home which transitioned to the Yellow Pod of the Herb Bassett Home. During the 6am nurse-round, June would sing to her patients. As they would join in, singing would be heard down the wings of the department. As June’s musical talents became known in PA, she became choir leader and organist for Nesbit Memorial United Church. In later years she played for masses in Mont St Joseph Care Home. Her affiliation with the Order of Eastern Star continued in Prince Albert, where she was regularly the organist. In 2016-2017 she was Grand Organist for SK Grand Chapter. As such, June was thrilled to visit Branson, Missouri Grand Chapter the same year. Her years in the O.E.S. totaled 62. Members marveled at her abilities and appreciated how her music could light up the room. June cherished the sisterhood and service work. June gave her time generously and loved her family passionately. Her children were taught music and many crafts, as her many talents were shared. She loved to cook and share recipes. In retirement, she connected with friends daily (some wore RED HATS). She was predeceased by her parents Charlie and Lorene (Flynn) Morgan, brother-in-law John Cameron, and husband, Allan Sanderson. June is survived by her: brother Donald (Lorraine) Morgan; sister Sylvia Cameron; children Kelly (Ed) Lloyd, Kim (Todd) Toner, and Kurt (Shelley) Sanderson; Grandchildren Chantal Lemieux, Elise Urton, Cody (Tanya) Lemieux, Garret Toner, Dustin Toner, Marissa Sanderson, Erica Sanderson, Nikki Sanderson, Andrew Lloyd, Aubrey Lloyd; great-grandchildren Jaydon, Gema, Mya, Nash, Brax, Oakley, Hazley, Fynn; Allan’s brothers; Murray (Loy) Sanderson, Aaron (Sheila) Sanderson, and Calvin (Valerie) Sanderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 26th, 2020; Calvary United Church at 2:00 pm; 114-25th Street East, Prince Albert. In lieu of floral tributes, donations can be made to SPCA, Eastern Star, or Calvary United Church.
