Marjorie Agnes Meng (nee Vickers)

November 2, 1931 ~ January 20, 2020 

It is with great sorrow that the family of Marjorie Agnes Meng, formerly of Birch Hills, SK, announce her passing on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the age of 88 years at Birchview Nursing Home, Birch Hills, SK.

Mom was born in Sarnia, Ontario on November 2, 1931 to Arthur and Violet Vickers.  As a young woman, Marjorie worked at Dare Cookies and later at Dutch Boy in Kitchener, ON where she met her husband-to-be Harvey Meng.

In 1969, they moved their young family to Saskatchewan where they continued to raise their family.  In the early 1980’s, Mom worked for Birchview Nursing Home in the Laundry Department where she made longtime friends.  Mom retired in 1996.  During retirement, her and Dad ran a successful Market Garden business.  Mom enjoyed visiting with her children and grandchildren and the many calls from them.  Mom enjoyed many hobbies and passed on her fondness and skills to us.

Mom is survived by her:  children Bill (Sandy) Gallagher, Michael (Deb) Meng, Ron (Alene) Schultz, Bobby Meng, Val (Ray) Baillie, Linda (Garnet) Parenteau, Cathy (Joe) Rodwin, Norma Meng, Judith (Jerald) Meng as well as 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Harvey; parents Arthur and Violet Vickers; and sister Gwen Runwick.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2020 at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 279 McCallum Avenue, Birch Hills, SK.  Interment will be held at a later date.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.
