EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos released veteran Canadian linebacker Cory Greenwood on Thursday.

Greenwood, 32, of Kingston, Ont., signed with Edmonton last season as a free agent but suffered a season-ending injury during training camp.

The six-foot-two, 235-pound Greenwood was selected third overall by the Toronto Argonauts in the 2010 CFL draft but ended up signing as a free agent with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. Greenwood spent three seasons with Kansas City and parts of two years with the Detroit Lions before joining the Argos late in 2014.

He played the 2014-15 campaigns in Toronto before joining the Eskimos.
