What used to be a 7-Eleven convenience store on the corner of one of Prince Albert’s busiest intersections is being demolished.

Demolition started on Friday, June 19 with an excavator tearing down the building.

An excavator tears down the old 7-Eleven building at 2nd Ave and 15 St. W. The store was damaged in a fire over a year ago.

The building is located on the southwest corner of 2nd Ave. and 15th St. W and has been vacant for about a year.

The convenience store closed in April 2025 after a fire was deliberately set on a shelf inside. A 50-year-old man was later charged with lighting that fire and two other counts of arson in other nearby businesses.

The land is owned by Suncor Energy. paNOW has reached out to the company to find out what plans it may have for the location.

The location at one of the city's busiest intersections has made a concern for city councilors, who asked months ago what the plan was for the location.
