William Ballantyne

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Ballantyne at the age of 74. Bill was born on October 12, 1943, in Prince Albert, SK to Frank and Elsie Ballantyne, Bill was one of six boys. Bill grew up and married Angele Marie Ballantyne and to this union, they were blessed with two sons William Jr and Rob. He later met and married Gail Lois Ballantyne and was once again blessed with a daughter Shannon.
From 1960 – 1965 Bill was in The Army Service Corps and from 1966 – 1995 he was a Unit Manager at Corrections Canada. Bill played a significant role in managing some serious incidents at the Pen over the years. People who worked for him will remember him as being decisive but fair and having a great sense of humor. Bill enjoyed all manner of outdoor activities, camping, running, biking, skiing, hiking, and hunting and many great memories were made over the years at Candle Lake with family and friends. Bill was active in the Legion supporting many activities and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone.
Bill will forever be missed by his wife Gail, son Bill (Lisa) Ballantyne, Rob (Melody) Ballantyne, daughter Shannon, grandchildren Cody, Evangeline and William, great-grandchild Ember, brothers Frank, Fred, Barry and David.
Bill is predeceased by his parents Frank and Elsie Ballantyne, brothers Sarge, Stewart, first wife Angele Ballantyne.
A Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, 12:30 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Prince Albert, SK 133-8th St. E.
In lieu of flowers donations in Bill’s name may be made to The Royal Canadian Legion in Prince Albert, SK 133-8th St. E.
