PAGC plans kids Halloween event

The Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC) is ready to put the Parkland Hall to use.

On Wednesday the PAGC is set to put on a Halloween Event Night for kids aged 8-12. The event, which will be free to attend, will feature a range of activities from pumpkin carving to a best costume competition. The event is set to go from 4 to 8 p.m.

Korey Diehl, sports culture and recreation coordinator for the PAGC said they are looking forward to putting the Parkland Hall building to use while giving kids something to do on Halloween.

“Now that we own it, we’re just trying to come up with new initiative ideas for that part of the city,” he said.

The PAGC acquired the building in a land swap with the City of Prince Albert, which saw the city take over ownership of the old Angus Merasty School.

This is the first time the PAGC has put on an event like this and Diehl is hoping it will become a regular one. He said in the past the organization has helped do a haunted house and they are also looking at possibly getting that up and going again in the future.

“This year I just wanted to get something going in that new building,” said Diehl.

He added if all goes according to plan Halloween will not be the only time of year where the building will play host to events including winter festival and other activities.

Diehl said giving kids in the neighborhood the chance to take part in good activities was very important.

“That’s the biggest thing right, is just keeping kids busy and doing fun things that will keep them excited,” he said.
