A Sasky boy returns home: Getting to know Carsyn Dyck
This summer didn’t turn out quite the way Raiders forward Carsyn Dyck was expecting, but so far the return home to Saskatchewan has been exactly what he needed.
The 20-year-old, who is from Warman, was a part of a Portland Winterhawks squad that had six players heading into their final overage season before training camp started. After spending half the season last year injured, returning by about mid-January, Dyck had a feeling he wouldn’t be returning to the Winterhawks.
“I knew we had a lot of 20s in Portland, so every day I was waiting on a call or text. I didn’t know what was going to happen. Eventually I got the call; it sucked, but I understood.”
Luckily for Dyck, he only had to wait a week before he got the call from Raiders General Manager Curtis Hunt. Dyck was spending his Saturday on the golf course at the time, which led to a tense game of phone tag.
