Live updates: Raiders camp day 2 underway

Team Hartnell (orange) and Team Protas (green) are both 1-1, while Team Modano is winless. They played each other first, and Team Protas took the win in a shootout.

That means Team McAmmond will play Team Protas in the Parker Kelly Cup at 7:15 p.m., while Team Hartnell will face Team Modano in the consolation game at 5:15 p.m.

Game 5: Team Protas vs. Team Hartnell

In the first action of day two, Team Protas and Team Hartnell battled it out with the winner earning a spot in the Parker Kelly Cup at the end of the day.

Team Protas got the first two goals of the game when a scramble play in front found its way to Junior A camp invite Darius Hordal, and he swung a shot on goal that beat the goaltender fivehole. Moments later, a shot from the point by camp invitee Baden Glithero was tipped in by Yorkton Terrier camp invite Cash Lanigan.

Team Hartnell got one back before the end of the period when 2024 third round pick Kyle Obobaifo set up returning Raider Riley Boychuk for a onetimer from the left side.

At the start of the second period, Team Hartnell tied it when camp invitee Max Malinousky set up Boychuk with a great cross creese feed for a back door onetimer.

Team Protas took the lead back when former Victoria Royal Logan Pickford got sprung on a partial breakaway and beat the goaltender with a wrist shot. That gave Team Protas the 3-2 lead heading into the flood at half.

In the late goings of the second period, Team Hartnell tied it at three when American camp invitee and defenceman Bauer Walter grabbed the puck at the right side of the blueline, then walked down the wall for a shot on goal. That was stopped, but 2026 fourth round pick Sam Brenner cleaned up the rebound to tie the game.

Moments later, Team Protas went back the other way, generated a scrum in front, and 2025 11th round pick Noah Ulry found the rebound to give Team Protas the lead heading to the third.

Early in the third, Bauer Walter would find another rebound, and he potted it in for his first goal and second point of the game, tying it for Team Hartnell at four.

Right back the other way, Team Protas took the lead back on a give and go play that saw the returning Jonah Sivertson set up a Cohen Larson breakaway. A camp invitee, Larson was stopped, but gave Sivertson an easy rebound to clean up.

The back and forth action continued when Latvian defenceman Oskarks Luks tied it back up for Team Hartnell. He found a puck in the offensive zone corner, worked back to the point, then fired abullet through traffic into the net.

It needed a shootout, and Sivertson scored the only goal to give Team Protas the win.

Game 5 FINAL (SO): Protas 6 – 5 Hartnell

In goal, Team Protas saw Steele Bass allow two goals in the first half while Karson Varty behind him allowed three. Varty also got his second shootout win in the camp, which also happen to be his first two shootouts of his entire career.

As for Team Hartnell, Ethan Radke allowed three in the first half, while Evan Wandler did the same in the second.

Game 6: Modano vs. McAmmond

The first period was the first scoreless period of camp. In goal for Team Modano was Brady Holtvogt, who plays with the Humboldt Broncos but joined the Raiders for playoffs last year. On the other side was 2024 eighth round pick Chase Kettles, and both faced eight shots.

It took until the second period where Team McAmmond finally opened the scoring. American camp invitee Walter Clifton collected a puck just inside his blueline and sent the pass ahead for Junior A camp invitee Dayson Martin on the breakaway. He fired a wrist shot to open the scoring.

It was 2025 fifth round pick Louis Judd that tied it up for Team Modano a few minutes later on a nice individual play. He skated up the left wall, made a move through a defender’s legs, then fired from the bottom of the circle to score just before the halfway point flood.

No more scoring until after the flood but near the end of the second, and a Team Modano turnover behind the net found its way into the slot for camp invitee Rylan Wood, and he ripped it off the cross bar and in.

Team Modano tied it back up in the third though on the rush when returning Raider Connor Howe walked in on the left side and ripped home a wrist shot. They then took the lead when American invite Brendyn Van Oene sent a pass out of his own zone for soon to be Minto Madden Dell on a partial breakaway, and he fired a similar wrist shot home.

Team McAmmond tied it up when 2025 16th overall pick Athens Shingoose sent a nice pass from up high on the right, down low to former Portland Winterhawk Carsyn Dyck on the left, and his wrist shot went off the glove and in.

Off to another shootout, but this is the first one that took more than three rounds. No one scored until the third round where 2025 third round pick Brady Filmon scored for Team McAmmond, only for 2025 fifth round pick Louis Judd to do the same for Team Modano.

No one scored in the fourth or fifth round, but Junior A camp invitee Dayson Martin scored for Team McAmmond, and soon to be Minto Madden Dell was stopped to end it.

Game 6 FINAL (SO): McAmmond 4 – 3 Modano

In goal for Team Modano, Chase Kettles allowed one goal in the first half, while Cash Borowski allowed two and the shootout loss.

For Team McAmmond, Brady Holtvogt allowed just one goal while Haize Brightnose allowed two but earned the shootout win.

This article will be updated after the consolation game and Parker Kelly Cup later this afternoon.
