Gathering of Nations showcases traditional cooking techniques
Feeding the crowd at this year’s Gathering of Nations event in Prince Albert is truly a community effort.
Northern Saskatchewan communities have pitched in moose, caribou, duck, roughly 400 pounds of fish and locally picked blueberries.
Darlene Carrier from Cumberland House Cree Nation, with help from her best friend, has been busy making fried bannock – a skill she learned from her great-grandmother Lena Squirrel.
“I have secret ingredients I use,” she revealed, adding one of them is love.
