Alleged car jacker receives jail sentence and probation

A man who said he was present, but not actively involved, during a series of carjackings in Prince Albert, has received a jail sentence amounting to 17 months, followed by nine months of probation.

Scott McCallum, 27, appeared Tuesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court. With remand credit, he was granted time served and released the same day.

The events that occurred in late August, 2025, spanned several hours and involved multiple victims and vehicles. In one instance, a gun was discharged, but no one was physically hurt.

In total four people were arrested and charged.

For his part, McCallum entered guilty pleas to possession of a prohibited weapon and being an occupant in a vehicle knowing a gun was present. A number of other charges, including robbery and aggravated assault, were withdrawn by the Crown Prosecutor.

Judge O’Connor encouraged McCallum to associate with better people and reminded him that should he return to court again with similar charges, he would be looking at prison time. She also asked him to consider how the victims felt and how he would feel if his family members were targeted.

“I can’t imagine how scary it was,” she said.

Also charged was Jordan Kerfoot, who was sentenced last February and received a six-year prison term. Among the guilty pleas entered were robbery, discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a restricted firearm and breach of a previous release.

William Charles Hunt is facing a number of gun-related charges and returns to court on Sept. 15.
