Prince Albert residents frustrated as water concerns persist into August
Nearly two months after Prince Albert residents first began reporting yellowish, foul-smelling water, the City maintains the water is safe to drink, but has not provided a timeline for when the colour, taste and odour issues will end.
Residents have described the water as smelling like a slough or lake and say the colour and taste have made them reluctant to use it for drinking and cooking.
The City first acknowledged the issue June 30, saying river conditions had resulted in higher levels of naturally occurring organic matter entering the water treatment process.
The City said those conditions can occur in prairie river systems following runoff and periods of elevated flows, and can affect the appearance of treated water.
