Room to grow for new businesses in Prince Albert
If you were to start any kind of business in Prince Albert, where would you start?
While the cost and start up process can change from one business to another, there are a few things unique to Prince Albert that can determine whether a business will thrive or barely survive. Patty Hughes is the CEO of the Prince Albert Chamber of Commerce, and she said that there are plenty of assets in the city to help a person get started.
“I would recommend reaching out to the City of Prince Albert with planning and development, as well as their business licenses. Those are some of your first steps, is checking in with City Hall as well, if you’re an entrepreneur or just a budding entrepreneur. Another one I would suggest is a service that we have here in Prince Albert, an organization called Community Futures, and they’d be able to help you out with a lot of the other things you might need to think about in regards to your business and even if building your business plan.”
An argument against starting a business is often ‘there isn’t a market for it’, but that’s a comment Hughes is tired of hearing. Hughes pointed to one business that recently opened in downtown Prince Albert as a prime example of how the right business won’t just find a market, but will help grow a market for others.
