I got a beep on my phone on Sunday which provided the news Rider linebacker Jayden Dalke had passed away in a car accident while returning to Regina.
Dalke, 30, was traveling northbound on a southbound lane and struck a vehicle driven by Bhishma Rajyaguru, 22, killing both. Lumsden RCMP found cannabis and alcohol in Dalke’s vehicle and are doing toxicology tests and a GoFundMe page raised over $78 K to help send Bhishma back to his parents in India for cremation.
In Saskatchewan, anything involving a Rider player is news and social media was full of people upset over Dalke and the alcohol and drugs found in his vehicle. The RCMP reported Dalke had not paid for gas when stopping in Lumsden on his way home, which may explain why he was headed north but apparently not aware he was in the wrong lane if he was returning to the Coop station to pay.
