City reminds transit users to respect guidelines after payment scams

“Non-compliance with transit rules is a serious issue that takes time away from regular operations, revenue to offset transit costs, and can impact the safety of transit drivers and passengers,” said Anna Dinsdale, Community Safety and Well-Being manager with the City of Prince Albert, in the release.

“Transit rules are available online and clearly posted on every transit bus. We are asking for cooperation and compliance with these guidelines to ensure all passengers have a consistent experience when riding the bus.”

In an effort to help prevent misuse of bus fares, the city is encouraging passengers to print their name on the back of their monthly bus pass. Government-issued photo identification may be requested by the driver to confirm the ownership of a pass, which could also help it be returned after it becomes lost and turned in.

On Prince Albert transit buses, children under the age of 10 ride free only when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children under 10 travelling alone must pay the regular fare or present a valid Child bus pass, while single fares are $3 and can be paid with exact cash when boarding.
