Toppers celebrate spike in numbers
Another season of Toppers’ volleyball is officially in the books, and on Thursday night nearly 400 people packed into the cafetorium at Prince Albert Comprehensive High School for the awards and wind up party.
Cody Lockhart, chair of the Toppers executive, stated there was some good success on the courts, but added he was most impressed with the club’s growth this year both in terms of having more teams and more players registered.
“We grew about from roughly 150 to almost 200 [players],” he said.
When asked to explain the increase, Lockhart said volleyball, particularly women’s volleyball, is really getting more exposure and when compared to other sports, is not as expensive.
