Apr 20, 2026 | 12:22 PM

Up against the best division two volleyball teams in the province, the U14 Toppers Inferno squad lived up to their name, scorching the competition and finishing with a gold medal.

Sask. Volleyball provincials were held over the weekend in Saskatoon and Warman for the U14 women, U15 men and U17 women divisions. Inferno coach Liesel Lockhart said she is very proud of the team.

“Our motto going into the weekend was players win games and teamwork wins championships and the girls embraced that,” she said.

The girls finished with a perfect record of 6-0. In the playoffs they defeated Humboldt Chaos and JCVC Red.

Lockhart said the team came prepared and every player showed up to compete.

“There were no lapses and they’ve been practicing that especially hard for the last month … just recovering from mistakes and saying next ball.”

With the win, the teams travels to Edmonton next month for Nationals which will run May 7 to 10.
