Saskatchewan-made ‘activity-first’ app helps connect people with similar interests
“Loneliness is an epidemic. Health Canada backs that up. We have this incredible country full of things to do and too many of us are sitting them out because we don’t have anybody to do them with. I wanted to change that.”
Aitken describes Find My Plus One as an ‘activity-first app.’
“This isn’t about swiping through profiles, hoping for the best. It’s about posting what you actually love to do and finding the person who loves it too.”
Once you find a potential plus one, you get to know them at your own pace and make arrangements to meet when you feel ready. Aitken said the concept of the app was built around friendship and shared experience, but it’s designed to be fluid. Some people may find a hiking buddy or concert companion, while others may find something more. The app, she said, simply opens the door.
