Charge upgraded to first degree murder for Snowden man

A man who is accused of killing his wife in the village of Snowden last year has had his charge upgraded to first degree murder.
RCMP announced the change on February 3. Kevin Searcy, age 68, was previously charged with second degree murder.

In order to prove first degree murder, the Crown prosecutor will have to show that the act was ‘planned and deliberate’, according to the Criminal Code of Canada.
