RCMP investigate home invasion and stabbings at Muskoday First Nation

A man acquitted of murder six months ago is now one of two men wanted after a violent home invasion at Muskoday First Nation.

Chance Smith and Jordan Stonestand are alleged to have gone to a residence in the community on Saturday and attacked two men.

RCMP officers responded immediately, along with EMS and STARS, and located the victims with injuries consistent with stab wounds.

EMS transported one of the victims to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The second victim was transported to hospital by STARS with injuries described as serious.

In a social media post, the mother of the second man mentioned, said he was stabbed four times and also suffered a broken nose.

She also stated neither of the two victims are gang members.

The police investigation determined four suspects wearing masks entered the residence on Muskoday First Nation.

Two of the suspects assaulted the victims. All four suspects fled the scene in a vehicle that was later located by police with no occupants inside.

Stonestand and Smith have each charged with aggravated assault, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, break and enter to commit an indictable offence, and disguise with intent.

Stonestand was additionally charged with several gun related offences.

Smith was also charged with failing to comply with a release order condition.

A warrant has been issued for the arrests of both men. Prince Albert RCMP continue to work to locate them and ask the public to report sightings and information on their whereabouts.

In June, 2025, a jury found Smith not guilty of the murder of Wade Dreaver. After the verdict, community members warned Smith would re-offend.
