Aug 25, 2025 | 12:03 PM

Residents and drivers northeast of Prince Albert may see a 40-foot flame being emitted from a flare stack temporarily attached to SaskEnergy’s infrastructure.

The Crown corporation will be conducting controlled natural gas flaring at a block valve site, located about 12 kilometres northeast of Prince Albert, north of Highway 55 and near the Prince Albert Pulp Mill.

The flaring will take place from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26 and Wednesday, Aug. 27, as well as from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, subject to change based on operating requirements.

The flaring is necessary to perform maintenance work on the natural gas line system in the area.
