Police deal with three separate arson calls in 12 hours
In the span of 12 hours, the Prince Albert Police Service was called out to deal with three separate calls involving fires in the city, and arrests were made at each of them.
Starting on Wednesday, July 30, police were called out to a gas station in the 200 block of 16th Street West around 9:15 p.m. on reports of a disturbance. A male had allegedly stolen a jerry can and lit it on fire in the street in front of the Co-op Gas Station.
When police arrived, they found two employees attempting to put the fire out while another man, who matched the description of the suspect provided to police, was seen taunting the employees. The man tried to assault one of the employees, and police quickly intervened to chase the man down on foot and arrest him.
The man arrested was a 38-year-old, and he’s been charged with assault, theft under $5000, mischief under $5000, arson, and resisting arrest.
