Alleged drug traffickers enter not guilty pleas

A drug bust in Prince Albert last year that netted a kilogram of methamphetamine is proceeding to trial.

The resulting court case was spoken to Wednesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court. By way of their lawyer, Zan Rasmussen and Taylor Billette entered not guilty pleas to possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and breach of release order.

Their trial dates were scheduled for Dec. 19, 2025 and Jan. 20, 2026.

On August 15, 2024, police officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 400 block of 21st Street East and seized one kilogram of methamphetamine, 11 grams of cocaine, $1710.00, ammunition, and an array of paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

As a result, three people were arrested at the scene.

Justin Ryder was the third person and in addition to the above mentioned charges, was also accused of possession of a dangerous weapon.

He was last in court on Tuesday and had his federal matters adjourned to Jan. 27. The provincial charges related to the weapon and breach were set over to Aug. 7.
