Fire Command confirmed there was no patient entrapment

While paramedics tended to the four patients, the volunteer fire dept. was split in half and helped establish traffic control for the northbound lanes of highway 2. In turn, RCMP members had all southbound traffic diverted to Central Avenue N.

The second crew of firefighters went to work on containment of the approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel that had been spilled as a result of this collision. Crews used numerous bags of peat moss to soak up the spilled diesel on the highway.

Fire Command contacted Saskatchewan Environment and the trucking company in order to coordinate clean up of the contaminated area by a certified environmental clean-up company. Towing companies arrived and removed all three vehicles from the scene.

Buckland crews remained on scene until the Safety Manager from the trucking company arrived on scene, and she then made arrangements for an environmental clean-up crew from Saskatoon to travel to the scene to remove all the contaminants.

At this time, Buckland turned over the scene to the trucking company, as it would be a few hours before the contract company arrived to begin the clean-up.

Buckland Fire then opened up traffic flow on both south and north bound lanes on Hwy 2. The incident was terminated by Buckland Command, crews cleared and returned to the Fire Hall.
