Haunted Houses

Hair raising attraction returns to Prince Albert

Oct 31, 2024 | 10:46 AM

A scary clown is hiding in the dark and the flashing strobe lights make it difficult to tell the difference between what is real and what is only a figment of my imagination.

Nightmares Unleashed is a haunted house attraction at Carlton Park Hall, and is run by local high school students. After only three years, it’s become one of the city’s must see Halloween attractions and creator Aiden Edwards had a large evil grin on his face when he answered why he keeps bringing it back.

“I love Halloween, this is my favorite time of the year and brings every age out from six year olds to 60 year olds,” he explained, adding though their target market is teenagers who are too old to go trick or treating and have no other options for fun.

The attraction is filled with dozens of enthusiastic young actors and has taken about a week to set up. And for those people who have survived previous encounters, they can look forward to some new sights and sounds. It should also be mentioned there is a cost, but it’s only three dollars.

“I’m not trying to gouge people or anything on it. We just want the community to come out and enjoy,” he said.

Aiden’s younger brother Logan is among those who will be lurking in the shadows, waiting for his next victim to pass by. He told paNOW he enjoys doing something for the community.

“Kids are walking around Prince Albert, they’re trick or treating but there’s not a whole lot to do. But like with this they see a big line they’re like oh, what’s this? They come in, have a great time and it just really nice to see,” he said.

Acknowledging the attraction is geared more towards teenagers who are too old to go treat or treating, Logan said he enjoys scaring his friends.

“I go to school and someone that was in my class goes to it and they’re like that was so scary.
It’s just a fun thing to see.”

Nightmares Unleashed returns tonight from 6-10p.m. The first hour is designed to be a bit calmer for younger guests but after 7pm, the screaming begins.
